Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. We are looking for a confident and knowledge HR professional to lead the HR team on a full-time, temporary basis whilst the substantive postholder is on maternity leave.

This role will be predominantly based at the Accrington and Rossendale College site, but travel across other College sites will be required.

Main duties include:

• To lead the College’s HR team, made up of 10 members of staff

• To work effectively with members of the College Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team and provide advice and guidance on the whole range of HR topics

• To work with the HR team to ensure all HR casework is dealt with consistently, supportively and in a timely manner

• To lead the College’s approach to employee relations, ensuring positive relationships with both local and regional trade union representatives are maintained

• To be responsible for the ongoing review and updating of HR policies and procedures

• To lead the HR team in ensuring efficient and effective systems and processes are in place across the service

The ideal candidate will have:

• Degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant subject area

• Minimum of a L5 CIPD qualification, but ideally qualified to L7/Chartered

• Experience of effectively leading HR professionals

• In depth and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices

• The ability to coach, influence and negotiate
