Humanities Lead Teacher

Maplewell Hall is a special school for students with moderate learning difficulties aged 11 – 19 years. At present there are 215 students on roll. The school is situated in extensive grounds in Charnwood Forest just outside Woodhouse Eaves,  six miles from Loughborough.  Maplewell Autism Provision (MAP) opened in September 2016 and provides personalised learning for 25 -30 students with high functioning Autism and is designed to support students in reaching their full potential.

Maplewell Hall School is seeking to add a qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to their ever increasing team of staff. The subject area of Humanities require a leader who will capture the imagination of our learners and challenge each and every student that enters the classroom. This small and refined department plays an integral role in the core key stage 3 and 4 curriculum offer. There will also be opportunity to enrich the key stage 5 curriculum offer. 

Working with our students at Maplewell is both challenging and rewarding. Our team of staff work together to develop students’ confidence, academic and practical life skills, preparing them for life after school. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge students as well as encourage and support the less able in order to ensure that all students reach their potential. 

Members of the department work as a team when preparing materials; sharing resources and ideas is a strong feature of the department. 

This permanent post is paid on Main/Upper Pay Scale + SPN 1/2 dependant on experience.
