Congleton High School is seeking to appoint a Religious Education and Humanities teacher as a Temporary post to December 2019 to cover a period of maternity leave. If you think you have what it takes to help our students develop an understanding and an appreciation of both Religious Education and Humanities then we would love to hear from you. 

The Humanities Curriculum Area at Congleton High School is an outstanding team of experienced, dynamic and forward thinking teachers. The team currently comprises of seven full time members of staff and two part time teachers. Humanities subjects are popular at KS3 and also a popular option for students at GCSE and A Level, the department has an inclusive ethos and a proven track record of excellent exam results. 

Colleagues within Humanities are always keen to share their teaching approaches, resources and expertise as part of a positive collaborative ethos. Humanities staff have a strong commitment to ensuring each student progresses through a range of teaching methods including: collaborative learning and independent studies. All resources are shared in the staff teaching network and all staff are expected to contribute to these resources. The Humanities area has a strong team ethos and as a result each member of the area has responsibility for year group schemes of work. Many of the Humanities teachers take an active part in Working Groups and take lead roles in whole school developments relating to Teaching & Learning. 

The Humanities Area at Congleton High School is a high achieving area of the school. We are looking for an RE specialist to teach a range of KS3 and KS4 classes with the possibility of also teaching Philosophy and Ethics at KS5. Having the ability to teach other humanities subjects at KS3 would be advantageous.

Congleton High School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary academy with a sixth form, located in Congleton, Cheshire. At its most recent inspection, there were 1,103 pupils aged 11-18 on the school roll, including 220 in the sixth form.

The town of Congleton has a population of 26,500 and is 21 miles south of Manchester.
