Job overview

We’re looking to fill the following position for our IB World School starting on 1st August 2024: a competent and committed IB Middle Years Programme to support and enrich the IB World School's leadership team and to help us develop our IB Programmes. The position includes 25% release time for coordination and can be a full-time position if combined with subject teaching.

The non-profit foundation Louisenlund in Schleswig-Holstein has managed a private, secondary boarding school since 1949 and has been an IB World School offering the IB Diploma Programme since 2008. We are also a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme. Additionally, we are an accredited New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) school and a member of the Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG). Louisenlund stands for a modern, holistic, and academically rigorous education in both the English and German languages. Moreover, the foundation works toward the development of each student’s character and personality within a strong community. As MYP Coordinator, you will be directly responsible for the school's academic offerings in our Middle Years Programme, as well as for monitoring the academic progress and development of our MYP students. Your specific responsibilities and tasks are to:


  • keep up to date with and inform all staff of developments in and new publications from the IB
  • set up systems for communication with the entire professional staff to ensure cooperation in implementing the programme in the school
  • circulate to teachers and students all relevant information received from the IB
  • ensure that all regulations set by the IB concerning the programme and all procedures are adhered to properly, and that all deadlines are met
  • oversee the implementation of the published subject-specific assessment criteria
  • collaboratively monitor the effective integration of the key and related concepts within teaching and learning
  • collaboratively monitor teaching and learning through global contexts, including sustained inquiry into a wide range of locally, nationally and globally significant issues and ideas.
  • ensure that the concepts of international awareness and international-mindedness permeate all subject groups
  • supporting external and internal students of the MYP and their parents, in particular advising students on course selection, informing about the MYP requirements and answering questions
  • provide teachers and students with guidance concerning the personal project
  • working together with the SA Coordinator to support the effective implementation of co-curricular experiences
  • maintain accurate school information via the IB information system (IBIS)
  • ensure that the document entitled General regulations: Middle Years Programme is distributed to parents (available to parents on the school website)
  • provide introductory information on the MYP
  • support the head of IB world school to ensure that parent meetings concerning the MYP are organized on a regular basis
  • help parents understand the MYP assessment criteria and the school assessment policy and procedures
  • plan for teacher participation at MYP workshops and other professional development activities
  • inform faculty of all requirements and deadlines related to completion/revision of unit plans, eAssessment, and programme evaluation
  • report to the principal of the IB World School and keep the principal regularly informed of MYP developments
  • serve as amember of the pedagogical leadership team
  • promote the understanding and implementation of 21st century educational pedagogy and methodology
  • contribute to the presentation and promotion of the MYP within and outside of the school
  • ensure the development, updating, and implementation of school policies (school assessment policy, school language policy, academic honesty policy, inclusive education policy)
  • manage and facilitate the use of ManageBac within the IB World School
  • ensure appropriate conditions for the conduct of eAssessment
  • organize and complete the five-year evaluation and self-study for the MYP


Your profile:

  • You have a teacher certification and/or experience working as a teacher (preferably in the IB Middle Years Programme).
  • You have a master's degree.
  • You are passionate about your subject area and enthusiastic about working together with young people.
  • You are interested in working to shape Louisenlund pedagogy for the 21st century.
  • You are willing to familiarize yourself with the unique pedagogical concept of Louisenlund and to take part in professional development workshops, as well as the school development process.
  • Preferably, you can teach more than one subject.
  • Ideally, you have some experience in coordination and/or in leading a team.
  • You speak and write English fluently and (preferably) have some knowledge of or competence in the German language
