Job overview

We are looking for a PYP Coordinator starting from September 2024. 

Curriculum Development

• Oversee the development and implementation of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum.

• Collaborate with teachers to ensure alignment with IB standards and objectives.

Professional Development

• Provide guidance and support for PYP professional development for teaching staff.

• Stay updated on IB educational practices and share relevant information with the team.

Assessment and Evaluation

• Coordinate the implementation of formative and summative assessments within the PYP framework.

• Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices.

Collaboration with Teachers

• Foster collaboration among PYP educators to enhance interdisciplinary approaches.

• Support teachers in designing inquiry-based and student-centered learning experiences.

Parent and Community Engagement:

• Facilitate communication with parents regarding the PYP curriculum, student progress, and program goals.

• Organize and participate in community events related to the PYP.

Resource Management

• Manage PYP instructional materials, ensuring access to appropriate resources for teachers and students.

• Coordinate the acquisition of relevant teaching materials and technology.

IB Authorization Process

• Guide the school through the IB authorization process for the PYP.

• Ensure compliance with IB standards and requirements.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Analyze assessment and evaluation data to generate comprehensive reports on student achievement and program effectiveness.

• Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Inquiry-Based Learning Advocacy

• Promote and advocate for inquiry-based learning methodologies within the school community.

• Organize workshops or training sessions to enhance teachers' understanding of inquiry-based teaching strategies.

Policy Adherence

• Ensure adherence to IB policies and procedures.

• Stay informed about changes in IB guidelines and update school policies accordingly.

Student Support

• Collaborate with support services to ensure the diverse needs of students are met within the PYP framework.

• Implement strategies to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Coordination of PYP Events:

• Plan and coordinate PYP-related events, such as exhibitions and projects.

• Encourage student participation and showcase the achievements of the PYP program.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead the review and revision of the PYP curriculum based on feedback, assessment data, and educational research.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes as needed.

Team Leadership

• Provide leadership and guidance to the PYP teaching team.

• Foster a collaborative and positive team culture focused on educational excellence.

Curriculum

ICS Milan offers a stimulating learning journey which is defined by a rich and well-structured curriculum that integrates the following frameworks:

EARLY YEARS

  • The British Early Years Foundation Stage, a play-based framework, featuring the learning and development goals for young children from birth to five years.


PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • The Cambridge Primary Programme, covering English and maths.
  • The IPC - International Primary Curriculum, covering the topic-based subjects (science, social studies, geography, history, art and international mindedness).
  • National recommendations for the curriculum as established by the Italian Ministry of Education for the Italian language and culture programme. In the 2016/17 academic year, ICS Milan was granted officially recognised school status (parità).


SECONDARY SCHOOL

ICS Secondary School has been designed to offer the IB Programme of the International Baccalaureate:

  • Middle Years Programme for students from 11 to 16 years old.
  • IB Diploma programme 17-18 years old.


As a Scuola Paritaria, our students have the flexibility to move between the Italian and international curriculum, opting to complete the Scuola Media and sit the Licenza Media exams with us, and move back to the Italian system for Liceo, or, to continue with us to complete their Scuola Superiore studies in 4 years alongside the IB, MYP and DP.
