A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small Trust as ICT Teacher. This role is based in either one of our two provisions: the long established Roman Fields in Hemel Hempstead OR the brand new James Marks Academy in Welwyn. If you are able to work in both provisions an arrangement will be made that will ensure this is reflected in your pay/working conditions. If you are not able to work across both provisions, please still apply, but only if you want to work part-time, or you are able to teach a second subject.

Our pupil cohort is best described in the words of HCC as those pupils with high anxiety and ASC for whom a traditional SEMH school would be deemed inappropriate. The pupil cohort is typically average to high ability, although we are inclusive of all, so the candidate needs to have the ability to teach ICT up to GCSE, A-Level is clearly preferable. We have purpose built ICT suites.

Our small MAT, offers significant career progression for the right candidate. Our founder school, Roman Fields is graded Ofsted ‘outstanding’ and holds the National Autistic Societies ‘Specialist, Advanced’ award. Roman Fields was joined by Forest House in September 2022, with the new JMA making up just three educational provisions in the Trust. If you want to work in a supportive environment that offers unimaginable personal and professional satisfaction, due to the incredible outcomes our vulnerable pupils achieve academically, personally and socially, then you simply need to apply because you will not be disappointed.

The successful applicant will join our team of experienced teachers and tutors and teach small groups. You must be proactive in your approach, working closely with parents, our staff team and other agencies.. This role offers work life-balance in abundance, administration tasks are kept to a minimum and smaller groups mean teachers have the opportunity to focus on our priorities, building relationships and delivering quality first teaching.

We'd love you to visit - please contact Mandy Crow - 01442 256915 (ext. 203) term time only to arrange a visit.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.

Visit available any time prior to the closing date.

Applications Close: 19th April 2024

Interviews: Week Commencing 27th April 2024

Roman Fields is a county wide provision based near Hemel Hempstead. In 2018, Roman Fields was awarded the National Autistic Society's Excellence award their very top award, given annually to one school/college/provider only. Soon after, we had a successful Ofsted inspection, where we were graded "Outstanding" in all areas.

Roman Fields became an academy in April 2021 and will be a standalone academy within the James Marks Academy Trust, until it is joined by a second school, the purpose-built free school, the James Marks Academy, in Sept 2023.

Our small trust and the academies within it, will provide pupils, with bespoke timetables that build on their strengths and interests and thus allow them to both re-engage with, and re-discover their love of learning. We offer a provision for a wide range of abilities, including functional skills, vocational qualifications, GCSE and A Level. Please see our examination results on our website, as we are exceptionally proud of our pupils and their achievements.

Our trust is built on academic achievement and relationships, as these are the drivers that enable pupils to flourish personally, socially and emotionally too.

Our aim is to ensure our pupils leave us with clear goals and ultimately become the successful, happy, economically active adults they can be.

All pupils on roll have an EHC plan. Most of our pupils have an autism diagnosis, some have multiple diagnoses including SEMH. The vast majority of our pupils are in KS4 (14-16) and KS5 (16-18) we have a core offer of Maths, English, Science and ICT or Business. The rest of an individual pupil's timetable will be designed around their interests. We are also able to offer Humanities, Art and Music up to GCSE and beyond.

If you are a passionate, committed professional who recognises how much progress pupils can make when support and challenge are in equilibrium, and relationships are strong, we would welcome your application.
