Job overview

Kensington School is a small, thriving school which has for well over 50 years been one of the leading British curriculum schools in Spain. It enjoys outstanding public examination results, very low staff turnover, small classes and forward-looking family governors.

We aim to recruit fully qualified teachers, trained in the British Isles and who have a native level of English. Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements.

We are looking to recruit a part time ICT teacher. The post could be full time if a second teaching subject is offered. This is a new post and reflects our curriculum expansion. It is a very exciting time for the ICT department as the popularity of ICT as a subject has been growing up to IGCSE level. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to develop the teaching of ICT up to and including A Level.

We can offer Edexcel IGCSE in either Computer Science 9-1 or ICT 9-1. The Edexcel IAL in Information Technology will be offered to our 6th Form. This is an ideal opportunity to co-ordinate the growth of Computer Science/ ICT as a taught subject and to encourage the integration of technology across the curriculum.

For additional information on the school, please visit our website at: www.kensingtonschoolbcn.com

If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to contact the school office before applying.

To apply please send a covering letter together with your CV and a recent photograph to vacancies@kensingtonschoolbcn.com

Two professional referees are required, one of whom should be your current or most recent employer.

Short-listed candidates must be available to attend face-to-face interviews at the school, Covid-19 regulations permitting, and expenses will be paid to these candidates.

If you have not been contacted by 20th May please assume that, on this occasion, your application has not been successful.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a happy and successful school at an important time in its development.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children so the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an Enhanced DBS.

About Kensington School (Barcelona)

Kensington School is a mixed, non-denominational all-through school with Sixth Form situated in Barcelona. It currently educates around 250 pupils between the ages of 3-18, offering a quality education for everyone from nursery school students to Sixth Form students. It is an English language instruction school, also offering French and Spanish as modern foreign language classes as part of the curriculum, also supporting students without English as a first language with English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes. The school uses the Edexcel exam board, and is a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) and of Barcelona International Schools Association (BISA).

The school was first set up by Cambridge University graduate Edward Paul Giles in 1966, making it one of the oldest British curriculum schools in Spain. With the aim of providing a British education for the people of Barcelona, the school began to prepare a group of secondary level pupils for GCSE and A Level. After a few changes of location, Queen Elizabeth II opened the current building in 1988.
