EDUCATION CHALLENGE: NEXT GENERATION LEARNING PILOT

Responsible to: Careers Leader (School) and Regional Lead (North East LEP)
Duration:  Fixed term to 31 December 2018
Host Employer: Excelsior Academy (on behalf of Churchill Community College, Norham High School and Excelsior Academy

The North East is leading the way when it comes to implementing outstanding careers provision within Education. With all of our work centred on the Gatsby Good Career Guidance Benchmarks, the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, together with its partners are delivering a range of projects to achieve the Benchmarks.

We are seeking to recruit three Industry Alignment Managers to support the delivery of the North East LEP’s Education Challenge: Next Generation Learning Pilot.

We have been selected by Ford Next Generation Learning and The Edge Foundation as the first area internationally to translate elements of the very successful Academies of Nashville model to the UK.

The Academies of Nashville model transformed attendance, attainment and progression by placing employers and business partners alongside teachers and school leaders to develop highly personalised approaches to progression.

To make this happen, The North East LEP are working closely with three schools in the region, to translate elements of this model to build a similar approach that works in the UK. The vision is to pilot a model in the North East that is impactful, scalable and replicable across the UK.

The Industry Alignment Managers will be based and line managed at one of the three schools below for four days per week where they will work with curriculum staff and employers to develop engaging and impactful project based approaches to learning. One day per week you will work with a Regional Project Lead to develop and share good practice.

The three schools taking part in the pilot are:

  • Excelsior Academy
  • Churchill Community College
  • Norham High School

We are looking for individuals who have an understanding of the education/ business links sector as well as experience or understanding of co-designing, developing and managing projects with a variety of partners, including schools and employers.

Closing date: 12 noon, Wednesday 10th January
Interviews: w/c 15th January

For an informal chat about these roles, please contact Michelle Rainbow, Skills Director at the North East LEP.
