Job overview

Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy is at an exciting time in its development and needs an interim leader for the next academic year.

The school is currently working in partnership with another Trust in Slough as it recovers from an inadequate Ofsted judgement in June 2017 and we are seeking a Head of School who will lead the school on the next stage of its journey, be an ambassador for the school and raise its profile in the local and wider community.

Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy was opened in September 2014 by the Learning Alliance Academy Trust (LAAT) under the Free Schools Programme and currently has students in Years 7-10. Next year we will be preparing our first cohort of 58 Year 11 students for their GCSE examinations. The school has purpose-built brand new accommodation which is in the north of Slough and will have in excess of 550 students in September.

Our current partnership with SEBMAT (Slough and East Berkshire C of E Multi-Academy Trust) brings together 5 schools (3 from SEBMAT and 2 from the LAAT) with great potential to improve outcomes for children and opportunities for staff. The LAAT wishes to appoint a Head of School for the next academic year to be in charge of the day to day running of the school and focus relentlessly on teaching and learning and preparing KS4 students for their examinations. Since January 2018 Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy has been supported by Slough and Eton C of E Business and Enterprise College (within SEBMAT) and this arrangement will continue next year with the Head of School working alongside Slough and Eton staff to continue to bring about the necessary improvements. A substantive Headteacher will be appointed to the school for September 2019.

If this post sounds attractive to you then please study the school’s website and Head of School job description for further details. Visits to the school are welcome and we encourage anyone interested to come and see the exciting potential the school has to offer. Please contact Mrs Bobby Khaira if you would like to visit the school (b.khaira@lhea.org.uk). We have asked SEBMAT to lead the recruitment process for this vital position and potential applicants who would like to know more about the post should contact Peter Collins, Headteacher at Slough and Eton School (head.pa@slougheton.com).

This opportunity would be perfect for someone interested in a one year secondment to the school (perhaps an experienced Deputy Headteacher who is ready for Headship) and we welcome applications from candidates with a range of experiences.

Please apply for this position by completing the application form which is available from the school website, include a statement outlining your experience and suitability for the post and return to vacancies@lhea.org.uk

Closing date: Friday 15 June 2018

Interviews: w/c 18 June 2018

The Learning Alliance Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

About Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy

Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy (LHEA) is a state-funded non-selective, all-ability, non-denominational secondary school, one of 102 institutions to successfully bid for free school status in the summer of 2012. It opened its doors to pupils in September 2014. The school is sponsored by its sister institution – the outstanding Lynch Hill School Primary Academy – and both schools are part of the Learning Alliance Academy Trust.

Like other free schools we are subject to the same Ofsted inspections as state schools; although free schools are given certain freedoms, we are committed to following the national curriculum and to only employing well qualified teaching staff.

LHEA has moved into the brand new state of the art building off Stoke Road in Slough. Every year we will introduce a new year group, until 2019 when we will be a complete school. We pride ourselves on the expertise of our teaching staff, a safe and supportive atmosphere for pupils, a broad and balanced curriculum (complemented by a programme of Enterprise and STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and the high standards we expect of our students and ourselves.
