St. Bede's College is a leading Catholic Independent School that seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic leader with a passion for Science. The successful candidate will have the skills to teach Biology, Chemistry or Physics to A Level. This position is a fixed term contract in the first instance for up to 12 months and will then be subject to review.

St Bede’s College, based in Alexandra Park, Manchester, is an all-through, independent Catholic school with sixth form, for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. The school was founded by Cardinal Vaughan, the Bishop of Salford, in 1876. In 1877, the school relocated to its current site in Whalley Range, three miles from Manchester city centre.

St Bede’s College has a preparatory section for pupils aged 3-11; a senior school for students aged 11-16; and a sixth form for those aged 16-18. At present, the school educates approximately 744 young people. St Bede’s has a partnership with Manchester City Football Academy.

Values and vision

Though the school aims to teach the values of Christ, students may be of all faiths and none. St Bede’s College aims for excellence by encouraging a curiosity to learn and a creative outlook. Teachers aim for the best outcomes for every child, not just academically, but also in performing arts and sports.

Staff teach a stimulating and enriching curriculum. Students are expected to build good personal relationships and demonstrate the values of kindness and forgiveness.

The teaching enables pupils to make good progress, encompasses effective behaviour management and is supported by suitable resources. A suitable framework for the assessment of pupil performance is in place. Principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils as responsible, tolerant, law-abiding citizens.”
