Worried what you will be asked at interview?

Well don’t, as you will get these in advance of the day so you can show us your ‘best self’.

Worried about where to park on your interview day?

Well don’t, as you will get a parking space reserved for you on your interview day and hopefully when you visit.

Want a Costa Coffee from our in-house Costa Café in school?

Yes, that’s right we have a Costa Café with one free coffee each week for every member of staff.

Want a morning or afternoon free from teaching so you can pick up the kids, go to the gym, walk the dog, or just relax?

Well come and join, this is just one of many wellbeing initiatives we have at the school.

We are seeking to appoint an Internal Reflection Room & Re-Focus Centre Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and coordination of the day-to-day function of the Internal Reflection Room and work closely alongside the Internal Reflection Supervisor. The academy Reflection Room is an internal isolation area for students who have disrupted school/learning. The room is designed as a behaviour management tool but also in part designed to support students to reflect on their behaviour and prevent further isolation periods in the future. The successful candidate will also create and deliver specific interventions to small groups of students in the Re-Focus Centre. We are looking for someone who can work as part of a team to ensure the highest delivery of service. The successful candidate will join an exceptional Pastoral team.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy earlier than the published end date should a suitable candidate apply.

Northampton Academy is a transformational comprehensive and non-selective school of approximately 1700 students, serving a diverse community. We are proud to have been judged ‘Outstanding' by Ofsted in March 2023. Our values, which underpin every decision we take, are Respect, Determination, Ambition, Integrity and Tolerance. We have a comprehensive student character-building programme, which has been nationally recognised through the Character Kitemark Plus that was awarded in November 2021.

The leadership of the academy is completely determined to create an environment in which staff can be the best they can be within their role. In addition to this, staff are trusted to be professionals through:

·        Genuine Flexi-working environment where all staff have the option of either a late start or early finish one day per week

·        Free access to on-site high-quality gym

Northampton Academy is committed to equal opportunities and to the protection and safety of all students and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share these commitments.

The post will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.

Northampton Academy is a transformational comprehensive and non-selective school, serving a diverse community. We were proud to be judged 'outstanding' by Ofsted in all areas in March 2023. Our values, which underpin every decision we take, are RESPECT, DETERMINATION, AMBITION, TOLERANCE and INTEGRITY. We have a comprehensive student character-building programme, which has been nationally recognised through the Character Quality Mark Plus that was awarded in November 2021.

The leadership of the academy is completely determined to create an environment in which teachers can get on with their core role: delivering excellent lessons.  To this end, the student behaviour system is clear and simple and easy to administer in lessons. If action is needed beyond these simple steps, the pastoral and senior teams take all the burden away from the teachers, conducting detentions, following up and dealing with parents on your behalf. Teachers at the academy speak of this as one of the major benefits of working here. In addition to this, teachers are trusted to be professionals through:

  • A genuine ‘flexi-working’ approach with at least one opportunity a week to come in late or leave early for every teaching member of staff
  • No unannounced observations
  • No lesson grading
  • 3 extra INSET days per year for joint team planning
  • A feedback and recognition policy that lets teachers decide the best feedback mechanism for their own classes, rather than having this prescribed centrally

Our pledge, to all our academy teachers, is that by working for us you will benefit from more pay, more time and more support.

More pay…

• We pay an average of 5% above national scales – the   best rates of pay in the sector

• Cash towards medical treatment

• Generous staff discount scheme

more time…

• Three extra INSET days for planning

• At least one personal day a year

and more support

• Great training for your career

• Exceptional curriculum resources

• Expert subject advice

• Support for your wellbeing
