Job overview

King Edward VI High School for Girls, the leading girls’ school in the West Midlands, has a rich tradition of journalistic activity including magazines, newsletters and podcasts, and a number of our alumnae have gone on to become successful journalists.

We are now looking for our first Journalist in Residence - a professional with good connections in the media who can harness and inspire our students’ output in a range of different formats, including digital media, so as to maximise the impact of their work.

We would expect you to be available to lead sessions for approximately 50 hours across the school year, and we hope you would join us in Autumn 2021. We can offer a schedule with the flexibility to fit around your commitments and the potential for a mixture of in-person and Zoom meetings. The sessions would be paid at the rate of £40 - £50 per hour.

Recent experience in the media is essential, as is a genuine engagement with young, bright students. If you are interested in the role, please email your CV and a letter of application addressed to the Principal, Kirsty von Malaisé, to recruitment@kes.bham.sch.uk by Wednesday, June 23.  Interviews are likely to take place on the morning of Wednesday, June 30.
