The Academy Committee of St. Ethelbert’s wish to appoint skilled and enthusiastic teachers and leaders to complement our existing team
Recruitment and retention allowances may be available for suitably experienced and qualified candidates.
We are a hardworking, ambitious and dedicated staff who strive to deliver excellent outcomes for our pupils through an engaging and stimulating curriculum, challenging and varied learning opportunities as well as a caring, nurturing environment.
Our most recent Ofsted (January 2015) confirmed we are a “good” school where pupils “make good progress because the school has an exciting and challenging curriculum which is well taught”. The behaviour of pupils in class is “impressive” and “across the school pupils work hard to complete the tasks they are given”. Our pupils make excellent progress in Reading, Writing and Maths.
We know that achieving excellent outcomes for our pupils means investing in quality staff and we place real emphasis on providing personalised professional development for our team. This was noted in our recent Ofsted report which commented “Teachers are very positive about the level and effectiveness of the support and professional development they achieve”.
In December 2016, St Ethelbert’s converted to academy status and formed a multi-academy trust along with two local Catholic schools: St Joseph’s High School and St Anthony’s Catholic Primary.
Our school is situated on a spacious, green site on the outskirts of Wexham, Berkshire. With good transport links, we are within easy reach of the M4 and an easy commute from the Windsor, Uxbridge, Slough and Reading areas.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about education and can demonstrate a secure understanding of what good practice looks like. Most importantly we are looking for teachers with high expectations and a positive and flexible approach who see and value the potential in every child. Applicants must be sympathetic to the Catholic ethos of the school, although not necessarily Catholic themselves. We can be flexible regarding the year group depending on your skills and experience.
Visits to the school and informal discussion with the Headteacher, Mrs Maynard, are welcomed. Please contact the school office at firstname.lastname@example.org, for an appointment or to speak with Mrs Maynard.
Application forms, an applicant welcome letter from the Headteacher, job descriptions and person specifications can be downloaded from the school website (www.stethelberts.slough.sch.uk). Completed applications should be emailed to the school at email@example.com.
- Candidates will have the opportunity to meet members of senior staff and our pupils as well as seeing the school in action. They will normally be expected to teach an observed lesson in addition to attending for interview.
St Ethelbert’s Catholic School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and successful applicants will be subject to enhanced disclosure procedure. The school adheres to a code of good practice with regard to Safer Recruitment.
