Contract type: Full-time

Start Date: September 2020

A fantastic opportunity for an innovative, creative, courageous and resilient Key Stage 2 practitioner to grow, nurture and lead learning for KS2 pupils in a unique special school in an ethnically diverse inner-city area.

Pathways School is a special school for pupils with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, with a therapeutic approach. The school caters for pupils from Year 2 to Post 16 as we grow; with pupils from Upper Key Stage 2 to Year 11 currently on roll. As we grow our pupil numbers and our staff team, we are now looking to recruit a Secondary English Teacher to join the Pathways team.

The school is part of Eko Trust in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, in East London. The school is undergoing a transition and will be moving to a brand new, purpose-built site in 2022. This will include great facilities including training rooms, therapy rooms, great technology and a sixth form.

The ideal candidate will have successful experience of leading teaching at Key stage 2 in either a special or mainstream education setting, as we are just as keen to encourage applications from candidates with a relevant mainstream background as those with special school experience. The candidate will lead the teaching and learning for a mixed KS2 class of SEND pupils with SEMH. They will have proven impact of outcomes at year 6, high quality teaching and an ability to demonstrate the Teacher Standards to an impressive level. The candidate will need to have a creative, flexible and innovate approach to tailor and personalise the learning experiences for a range of KS2 pupils from year 3 to year 6.

The successful person will be supported in post by our trust leadership which ensures our:

● schools are vibrant, multi cultural centres of learning

● pupils achieve highly

● pupils are happy and love actively learning

● pupils leave with the resilience and motivation to continue their successful learning

● community are proud of our schools and excited by what we can achieve together

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a comprehensive screening process, including a disclosure check, will be undertaken on all applicants.
