John Wood School & Nursery is a vibrant, two-form entry primary school located in Croydon and is part of the Chancery Education Trust. There have been many positive changes made to the Academy since academisation in 2016. In January 2019 the Academy was graded ‘Good’, Ofsted recognised staff have high expectations, pupils respond well, they have strong relationships with their teachers and are aspirational for their futures. We believe that every child is different and that everyone deserves the opportunity to be happy, secure and successful. The academy is surrounded by large grounds and benefits from a spacious and attractive site with a good deal of green space which enables us to take our learning outside, including through Forest School sessions.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking to appoint an inspiring and dynamic KS1/KS2 Class Teacher (ECT’s welcome) to join our committed and enthusiastic team.

We are seeking for a teacher who can:

  • Model and disseminate high quality teaching pedagogy and practice to secure consistently good or outstanding teaching and learning for our children
  • Have high principles and expectations of achievement and behaviour
  • Maintain a dynamic and inspiring learning environment
  • Have good interpersonal skills and able to work well as part of our staff team
  • Be committed to on-going professional development
  • Contribute to the wider life at the Academy
  • Share the Trust’s ethos of improving educational standards and the life chances of young people;

About John Wood School & Nursery

Davidson Primary School joined Chancery Education Trust as a sponsored academy in April 2016 when the school was placed in special measures following an OFSTED inspection in October 2015.

The Academy is located in the heart of Croydon within beautiful green secluded grounds. We are an aspiring academy and are committed to accelerating progress for the benefit of our 455 pupils. We are proud of the strength of the community that enables us to foster and nurture all the talents of our pupils.

At Davidson Primary Academy staff, governors, parents and the pupils work closely together to create a learning environment that stimulates young minds, encourages their development and success, and promotes a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. We believe in fostering children’s curiosity to create a life-long love of learning. We also aim to promote creativity and provide a wealth of opportunities for expressive young minds. Age 4-11 years, with a total number of pupils 455.
