Avonwood Primary School opened in September 2014 as a brand new school. It first opened with two very small classes of Foundation Stage children in a temporary building. We have since moved in to our stunning purpose built building and currently have 14 classes in our school and more than 420 children. We are a three form entry school, with the exception of Year 4 which has two classes. We are an exceptionally popular primary school and have healthy waiting lists for places in Foundation through to Year 3. Avonwood has a short but impressive history and we are looking for the right person to help further develop this exciting new school.
Avonwood Primary School is part of the Avonbourne International Business and Enterprise Trust. The Trust comprises of two single sex secondary Academies, a Co-ed 6th Form, and a Primary School.
We are looking to appoint a KS1 teacher to join our Year 1 team for January 2019 for a year’s maternity cover initially (as the school is still growing, there is scope for the postholder to secure a permanent position).

The successful candidate will be required to teach a class Year 1 children.

Avonwood Primary School benefits from working as part of the United Learning Bournemouth and Poole cluster. We work as a team and achieve more, by sharing, than any single school could.
We are a group of schools based in East Bournemouth catering for students age 4-18 across our four schools. Avonwood Primary School is a standalone primary facility based next door to our Avonbourne Boys’ and Girls’ Academies where students share a campus and are taught in predominantly single sex classes. When students reach our United Sixth Form, mixed classes are reinstated. We believe this diamond model of education recognises that as boys and girls reach their teenage years, they approach their learning differently allowing us to get the most out of every student.
Avonwood Primary School opened its doors for the first time in September 2014, when we welcomed two classes of Foundation Stage children to our trust family.
In September 2015 we moved in to our purpose built brand new school.
Avonwood has a short but impressive history with excellent facilities. We currently have classes up to Year 5 and by September 2020 we will be complete up to Year 6.
