We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking and ambitious KS3 English Lead. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Department and KS4 English Lead on evolving the curriculum and its delivery, ensuring all students receive the very best possible English teaching.
The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher, capable of enthusing students of all abilities. Among other responsibilities such as coaching and mentoring less experienced staff, the KS3 English Lead will be responsible for curriculum design, tracking student progress and assessment at KS3. This post would be suitable either for an English teacher keen to take their first step into curriculum leadership, or for an English teacher with prior leadership experience. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher with sharp subject knowledge, who consistently leads by example in their own classroom. They will confidently be able to teach English to students up to GCSE, with the ability to teach either A Level English Language and/or A Level Literature an advantage. In return for your passion, commitment and drive, we offer a highly supportive working environment, students who are intellectually curious and keen to learn, and outstanding continued professional development opportunities, including access to the National Professional Qualification (NPQ) suite of training. English is a popular subject at our school with healthy uptake in our Sixth Form. Our English department benefits from first class facilities and accommodation, and all English teachers have their own classrooms.
Easthampstead Park is a vibrant school which prides itself on holding traditional values. Our school culture marries high academic expectations with excellent pastoral care and support. Teaching and learning drive everything we do. We are committed to freeing teachers from unnecessary bureaucracy so they can focus on what really matters: marking, planning and teaching as effectively as possible. An action-research based approach to teaching and learning has been central to our improvement journey in recent years, and we wholeheartedly believe in investing in staff’s continued professional development in the same way that we expect our teachers to passionately invest in our students.
This is a very exciting time to join us. In recent years, we have made excellent progress, and at our last OFSTED inspection (June 2016), we were rated as ‘good’ in all areas.
“Since her appointment, the Headteacher has focused on making sure that all pupils feel safe, happy and confident so that they learn well. This did not happen overnight but it is now apparent in pupils’ much-improved behaviour and their positive response to the good teaching they receive.” (OFSTED, 2016)
We aspire to be rated ‘outstanding’, driven by a core belief that all of our students deserve nothing but the best possible teaching and support in order to be happy, healthy and successful. We aim to deliver the best quality teaching and learning in a school where staff and students have respect for, and pride in themselves, their school and their community.
If you feel you have the necessary skills, mind-set and determination to join us on our journey towards ‘outstanding,’ we would very much like to hear from you. Visits to the school prior to application are warmly welcomed.
