A unique opportunity to teach in small groups and to make a difference
Would you like more time to build relationships with students in small teaching groups, enabling them to develop the skills they need to succeed in all aspects of learning?
Due to continued expansion, we are seeking two KS3 Nurture Teachers to join our committed and professional staff team. We welcome teachers with KS2 and/or KS3 experience. Our students are working at age-related expectations in terms of the curriculum, but need considerable support to develop their resilience, social skills and self-esteem.
Our nurture teachers will have considerable autonomy, planning a relevant and engaging curriculum for a group of up to 6 students, using their individual specialist interests and skills. They will also be responsible for organising an activity programme, using the many local facilities and amenities. Frequent trips and outdoor activities are encouraged to broaden students’ horizons and make learning real and relevant. The teachers will also plan and supervise social time, creating a safe and homely atmosphere, where students learn to share the food they cook.
There is a generous allocation of extra PPA and meeting time, high quality CPD and supervision support, in recognition that we need to fully invest in our staff so that they can transform our students’ experience of education.
We understand that teachers may be apprehensive about teaching in a PRU and we would encourage you to watch our video (www.maldenoaks.org) as this will give you an insight into our students, their views, and the difference you could make to them.
Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is crucial to our ethos and our success is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views of our past and present students.
