Hours:
Core hours are 08.30-13.00 Monday-Friday and Saturdays 08.30-12.00, during term time only. The position is a temporary one to cover absence and the hours will be flexible in accordance with those cover requirements.
Key Duties:
- To maintain the equipment, chemicals and stock in the laboratory Preparation Room and to ensure the smooth running of the collection and distribution of equipment to and from the Preparation Room.
- The preparation of materials and equipment required for lessons and the cleaning and returning of such equipment to the Preparation Room after use.
- The setting up of experiments and assisting in the classroom when required.
- To maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the Preparation Room and all its contents.
- To be responsible for keeping a close check on the stock and completing a stock check at the end of each term. To be responsible for the ordering of stock through suppliers subject to authority from the Head of Department.
- The basic repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Looking after the ‘exotic’ pets.
- Basic administration and filing.
- To complete any printing when required and to ensure that photocopies and printers are in good working order, maintaining stocks of toner and contacting repair technicians when required.
- To keep staff updated on any changes in health and safety and CLEAPSS’ requirements.
