Job overview

We are currently seeking a LAMDA Tutor at The Swaminarayan Prep School for one day per week.

The LAMDA Tutor will work with the prep students to develop their skills . The school teaches LAMDA to students from Year 2 to Year 6. In Year 6 students take their LAMDA Exams. You will help develop children towards this as well as plan and deliver engaging, creative, fun and inclusive lessons. 

The ideal candidate will have past experience of teaching LAMDA and be confident with the LAMDA syllabus.

You may also be asked to help with supporting and preparing children for performance events.

You will have experience in a drama, theatre background, good standard of spoken and written English, experience of multi-tasking in a busy environment and the ability to use Microsoft packages. 

All staff are in a position of trust and have a duty to keep children and young people safe and to protect them from neglect and physical and emotional harm.  This duty is in part exercised through the development of respectful caring and professional relationships between staff, children, and young people. Staff are expected to be familiar with the local child protection arrangements and understand their responsibilities in order to safeguard and protect children and young people.

The Swaminarayan School was established in Neasden, north-west London, in 1992 by Pramukh Swami Maharaj for children aged between two and 18. There are 260 boys and 234 girls currently enrolled. The school is split into two sections: the preparatory school, for children aged two to 11; and the senior school, for those up to 18. Swaminarayan School teaches through the Hindu faith.

Values and vision

The aim of The Swaminarayan School is to educate children through the values of the Hindu faith and culture. It hopes to encourage pupils to become lifelong learners, as well as raising academic standards and helping them to develop into respectful members of the community. 

When the school was founded, Pramukh Swami Maharaj wanted children attending the school to be taught to an exceptional standard, in order for them to achieve outstanding achievements in their lives. Teachers encourage children to take part in extra-curricular activities, including performing arts. The school believes in creating relationships with parents, Mandir and the community as a whole.
