About The Role

The Lead for Governance will be the principal expert in relation to the composition, duties and functions of all school governing bodies, whilst ensuring that the LA adheres to it’s statutory responsibilities on school governance.

They will ensure that governors are enabled to play a fundamental role in the governance and leadership of schools, and manage the identification and appointment process for local authority governors as well as contributing to the recruitment of governors to Hounslow schools.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

Governor Services provides advice, development and training to school governors, to allow them to fulfil their statutory function of ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction, in addition to holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.

Working independently, you will liaise with governors, Headteachers, the Governor Services officer, the CPD and Governor training officer, clerks, the Senior Advisor and the wider School Improvement team.

About You

  1. An understanding of outcomes for pupils, leadership and management, quality of education, behaviour and welfare in schools.
  2. Experience of leadership and management (preferably in a school), including performance management.
  3. Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of governance legislation 
  4. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  5. Strong digital and IT skills. 
  6. A Basic DBS check is required.
