Millfield Science and Performing Arts College is a vastly oversubscribed and successful 11 to 16 school on a journey to outstanding.  Our motto is to ‘Create Bright Futures’ for all our students and we have a commitment to staff wellbeing, workload and regular, high-quality CPL.  In September 2020, we began the exciting step into our school becoming a Dynamic Learning Community:  where staff collaborate and use evidenced-based research and coaching to improve their teaching practice.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and dynamic leader who is committed to ensuring every child is stretched and challenged to reach their full potential.  To reflect the importance of this role, the successful candidate will be appointed on the Lead Practitioner pay scale.  The school seeks to recognise and retain high-quality leaders and therefore the successful candidate would have the opportunity for further promotion if they show outstanding leadership and make a significant whole-school impact.

We can offer you an induction and support programme, this includes a ‘buddy’ leader in another department.  You will have access to, and lead on, high-quality weekly CPL that is designed and delivered by colleagues who understand the school and our aims.  You will have regular opportunities to lead on, and collaborate with, other colleagues in our successful Teaching and Learning meetings; we have a commitment to our teachers’ professional development in our vision to become a Dynamic Learning Community.

We are a small, happy school, in the heart of Thornton, with around 870 students on roll and have been oversubscribed for 13 years.
