Lead Practitioner

Thank you for your interest in working at George Mitchell School. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our unique school and to highlight the significance of this important appointment. You are applying to join a staff team that are committed to providing the best opportunities for all students. The school is extremely ambitious and continually improving in all aspects. Therefore, I am looking for exceptional people with energy and drive to join us in this work. ·        Show commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity for all learners

·        Be responsible for ensuring and supporting the educational success of the school

·        Promote high standards of behaviour and a good working ethos.

·        Reflective, open to feedback and driven to be outstanding

·        Dedicated team player, working with the leadership team to problem solve and ensure the school works efficiently

·        Demonstrates optimism about children and expects the highest possible standards.

·        Has experience of teaching in inner/outer city schools, with a high proportion of EAL and Pupil Premium students

Why work at George Mitchell?

Following a recent Ofsted inspection the school was judged as ‘Good’.

We are an all through school which creates the unique opportunity to work across phases which is great for professional development. We are a small school with 4 form entry at secondary and 2 form entry at primary. The size of each year group means that staff get to know individual students and their families really well and form excellent relationships. The school has a ‘community’ feel built on excellent relationships between all staff. Staff turnover is low and wellbeing good.

Our students benefit from new buildings and improved facilities. We have a vast number of computers, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and banks of laptops that are available for student use.

Our focus is on ensuring that every child gets the very best education possible. Our reputation is dependent on the happiness and achievements of all our pupils, which is reflected in our school intent.

George Mitchell is within walking distance from Leyton underground and Leyton Midland station.

The school also has a staff carpark.

Why work in Waltham Forest?

Waltham Forest is a diverse East London borough with excellent commuting links, served by the London Overground, Central, Victoria and Greater Anglia lines. School staff employed by the London Borough of Waltham Forest are eligible for a number of benefits, to include:

-         Discounted membership to Feel Good Centres

-         Workplace Options - Employee Assistance providers

-         Cycle to Work Scheme and Eye Tests

The successful candidate for this post would start in September 2024.

If you feel you can meet the needs of all our students without limitation, and are excited to join us, then I look forward to hearing from you further.
