Lead Practitioner - Science

Required: For Easter or September 2018

L1 – L5 (plus recruitment incentive)

The Littlehampton Academy is seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner for science. We are looking for a candidate who shares our passion for the subject, is able to demonstrate deep knowledge and the expertise required to accelerate improvements in teaching and learning across the faculty.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant and ambitious academy and to help shape its future. The Littlehampton Academy is a large academy with an ethos that supports the development of both staff and students. We are determined to improve student performance in all areas.

Drawing on your outstanding teaching practice, we will look to you to lead improvements at every level in the science faculty. You will play a key role in supporting colleagues to develop, ensuring that training and support is targeted to improve impact in the classroom.

You will bring ideas and creativity, alongside a deep understanding of the curriculum and the tools to help faculty members improve their pedagogy. To do that, you will need to be an outstanding practitioner, with ability to model best practice and foster a culture of cooperation and development across the faculty.

Ably led by the Director of Faculty, you will find a team who will support and challenge you to be the very best. You will also find outstanding resources; our large team of enthusiastic and supportive science teachers is based in a suite of 14 newly refurbished and well-resourced laboratories.

Our current focus is the continued development of an innovative and engaging KS3 curriculum based on skills and independent enquiry. At KS4, students follow a range of flexible and personalised learning pathways leading to a variety of accredited courses including AQA 9-1 GCSE science trilogy. At post-16, courses include physics, chemistry and biology to A2 Level.

If you are passionate, driven and ready to join a dynamic team that is making rapid progress, we would love to hear from you.
