Lead Teacher of Maths.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive secondary academy, based in Leeds. The school is looking to add a Lead Teacher of Maths to their progressive and supportive Mathematics Department ideally starting in April 2022.

The role will include coordinating the delivery of Maths across all year groups. You will support the Head of Maths to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

The Lead Teacher will primarily support with curriculum and scheme of work review, ensuring that learners are engaged by the subject syllabus. You may also take lead on exciting provision methods such as managing intervention groups and extended revision classes.

"This academy is an Alternative Provision Free School catering for schools and academies across Leeds, Wakefield and Kirklees. This includes children that are subject to one-off, short-term, or rare difficulties, to complex SEMH pupils and pupils on the low end of the autistic spectrum. In addition, the provision will provide additional capacity for vulnerable, disadvantaged, disaffected pupils who are not sustaining age-related progress and are at risk of exclusion. The child is at the centre of everything they do. 

They offer a broad and balanced curriculum that supports the various needs of the learners that come to them. Their learning is highly personalised to match student needs and is supported by a specialist team of staff to cater for learners aged 4-19 years. The academy is a welcoming, safe and caring environment that successfully nurtures the needs of every member of its community. They aim to support their students to feel valued and enabled to make positive choices regarding their learning and interactions with others. They are driven by their values of respect for all, high aspirations and providing positive experiences to ensure success for all their young people and to transition them into life as responsible members of society. They believe all students can achieve."

The school is offering:

• A super supportive and highly visible SLT team and Headteacher;

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• the chance to take on further responsibilities such as Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Maths Degree or a related subject

• experience in delivering Maths at all levels pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• experience supporting your existing Head of Department with curriculum and scheme of work review to enhance student engagement

• a love and passion for education.
