Stockport Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Stockport Academy is a good school with outstanding features.  Ofsted March 2015

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an environment where students’ behaviour is impeccable, where they treat each other and staff with real respect, have a genuine enjoyment of school and enjoy their learning.  The Academy is on the road to outstanding and has a relentless drive and determination to ensure the best possible education for students in our care.

We are looking to recruit outstanding practitioners who are innovative and can inspire students aged 11 – 16 to achieve their full potential and continue their enjoyment of school.

We currently have a vacancy for Head of Department – Computing and Business Studies for a January start.  This is a growing department with the opportunity for the right person to be the driver for progress and attainment for students preparing for working life.  If you have the teaching and management skills and the resilience to lead an exceptional department where CPD is promoted and leadership support is strong, then this is the post for you.
