St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton, is a comprehensive, co-educational Senior College catering to vibrant young adults across Years 11 and 12. Position Requirements The Leader of Wellbeing and Engagement has specific responsibilities in the area of student pastoral care.

The Leader of Wellbeing and Engagement is a member of the College’s leadership team, which comprises the Principal, Assistant Principals and other Leaders. As a member of this team, the Leader of Wellbeing and Engagement will offer assistance and support in:


• the day to day operation of the College


• promotion of the Catholic ethos of the College


• establishing and maintaining a culture of care and ensure proactive support for students and families


• the implementation of the College’s policies and procedures


• the promotion and development of quality wellbeing programs that support engagement and learning outcomes.

Essential Criteria A Leader of Wellbeing and Engagement must:

• be a practising Catholic with an ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools

• have a four-year trained teacher classification and at least four years successful teaching experience consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

• possess a comprehensive understanding of contemporary engagement and learning principles, informed by evidence-based research

• possess knowledge of wellbeing programs, practices and strategies to enhance the social and emotional growth of students

• demonstrate success in creating and leading effective professional learning and building the capacity of teachers as leaders of student engagement and wellbeing

• demonstrate the ability to organise, initiate and drive change and ensure a culture of continuous improvement

• demonstrate the capacity to think and act strategically; to exercise sound judgement; and to support the Principal in leading the mission of the school

• demonstrate the ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes

• possess high level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to maintain confidentiality; and develop and sustain constructive and respectful relationships within and beyond the school community

• display a willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category D – Accreditation To Teach Religion

• display a readiness to be involved I the College Year 12 Retreat program on an annual basis

• Four-year trained teacher classification

• NESA Teacher Accreditation

• Working with Children Clearance number

• Completion of anaphylaxis training

Conditions of EmploymentSalary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020. This position attracts a 2 Point Coordinator Allowance of $16,756.00.

St Francis Xavier’s College is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic, independent secondary school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Hamilton, and has over 1,000 students on record.

St Francis Xavier’s College was founded in 1985 as a school to serve Catholic students in the local area. The school is currently being updated so that it can help fully cater for the needs of students with disabilities. The school is proud of its dedicated teaching staff who encourage students to take responsibility for their learning.
