Position Information 
The Leader Psychology, Practice provides clinical supervision and support to senior psychologists education and district guidance officers to facilitate quality psychological service delivery in NSW public schools.
 
The Leader Psychology Practice leads a team of senior psychologists education and district guidance officers to implement professional practices consistent with the standards of the department and the Psychology Board of Australia.
 
The Leader Psychology Practice develops and implements strategies to enhance psychology services in schools, including professional development and support for the school counselling workforce.
 
Tamworth West Public School, situated close to the central business district of Tamworth, is a PP4 school of approximately 270 students catering for the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, of whom approximately 35% are Indigenous and 8% NESB.

Our location provides students with excellent access to sporting venues, cultural events and first-hand learning experiences. Our mission is to provide 'A quality education in a creative and caring environment'.

We aim to care about the individual in ensuring that needs are catered for socially, emotionally and educationally through the full implementation of the 'You Can Do It ' program and the whole school community initiative of 'Positive Behaviour for Learning' which is the umbrella for everything we do at Tamworth West, both in and out of the classroom. Specific Selection Criteria 
Successful school counselling service experience and registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
Capacity to professionally develop and supervise the clinical practice of senior psychologists education and district guidance officers, including professional support in complex case presentations
Demonstrated capacity to lead school counselling service staff to implement evidence based counselling and wellbeing approaches including the delivery of innovative counselling services in rural and remote NSW
Extensive understanding of legislation, policy and procedures relating to psychology and wellbeing services in NSW public schools and the standards of the Psychology Board of Australia
  
General Selection Criteria 

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6.Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
