About the role

Contribute to the delivery of an effective learning support service throughout the Academy, specifically focused to developing literacy including responding to identified needs, ensure continuity of service and achieve planned objectives and deadlines. 

To support students, including those with SEND, with their learning needs; to work with other staff to further students’ independence and to enable them to access specific areas of the curriculum. The postholder will also organise and undertake other related duties to support learning, personal and social development.

37 hours per week – full time – permanent role

· £16,328.60 NJC17 (£18,672 FTE)

Who we are looking for

· Minimum 5 GCSEs at A*-C or equivalent, including English, Mathematics and ICT

· First Aid Training (or willingness to complete)

· Up to date technical knowledge of ICT equipment and techniques and their application to support learning and management 

· Good and effective literacy and numeracy skills 

· Ability to support individuals or small groups of students in a range of areas of the curriculum

· Good communication, motivation and interpersonal skills 

· Team-worker – able to work positively and provide guidance and support to others as part of the team

· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students

· Caring skills in terms of students physical and emotional needs

· Awareness of the relevant legislation, regulations and policies related to the storage and retrieval of a wide range of data and information in relation to the operation and management of the Academy.

· Ability to deal effectively and sensitively with staff, students, parents and the general public

· Ability to represent and celebrate the values, culture and ethos of the school

· Commitment to safeguarding the children and young people in the Academy’s care

· Experience of working in an educational environment
