About the Role

St Mary MacKillop College aims to provide the education experience that helps every student be the best they can be. Classroom, learning and faculty specialist support assistants are vital members of the College educational support staff whose role is to help achieve this objective across all curriculum areas.

Support assistant presence is aimed at helping to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the teaching and learning environment, and to support and contribute to the overall role of the teacher, faculty and College. The Learning Commons Support Assistant at St Mary MacKillop provides assistance to all students and staff in accessing materials and resources within the library and supporting the Learning Commons.

Learning Commons Support Assistant positions are located across both the Learning Commons at the Padua Campus Wanniassa (Yr  7-9) and the St Peter’s Campus Isabella (Yr 10-12).

Essential Criteria

  • Be student-centred in their approach to work in the learning commons, with a friendly and approachable demeanour to make the Learning Commons a welcoming space for all students and staff.
  • Be confident with digital technology, and an experienced user with the Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Experience or interest in working within a library environment.
  • Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly in an educational environment will be well regarded but is not mandatory.
  • Support the College Vision, promoting an atmosphere where Catholic principles and practices flourish in a welcoming, diverse community.
  • An understanding of the principles of child protection and confidentiality.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, plan and organise one's own work to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work autonomously without supervision.
  • Highly professional manner and strong interpersonal skills with a courteous, calm and welcoming demeanour.
  • The ability to positively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and build productive working relationships.
