Job overview

Smart Teachers are recruiting for experienced Learning Mentors to join a well-known and highly respected organisation based in Kingston.

The role

The Learning Mentor role is an exciting and varied one. The role will currently be assisting with a young man in Year 7 who has challenging and aggressive behaviour. The end goal in this particular role is to get the child to the point where he can reintegrate back into the school. The child is quite unresponsive and is known to be aggressive and show violent behaviour. We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and has strong behaviour management.

Once the child is reintegrated into a school environment, your assignment will change.

The Client is an extremely well known and well respected not for profit organisation with an outstanding OFSTED rating. They specialise in providing bespoke children’s social care and education support services to other local authorities, schools and partners in the education, health, social care and criminal justice sectors. The Client prides itself on their strong team ethos, and their ability to create a collaborative environment, which enable their staff to grow their knowledge base and successfully complete their assignments.

Requirements

To be considered for the Learning Mentor position, you will:

• Be comfortable working with students either one to one or in a small group setting

• Have previously worked with secondary aged students

• Have previous experience working with challenging behaviour either in a classroom, youth or residential setting

• Have prior experience of working with EHCP (Education Health Care Plans)

• Have an organised approach to work

• Have a genuine passion and interest in working with SEMH students, and helping enrich their learning experiences

Smart Teachers is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
