An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Elutec Academy and Sixth Form. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional to work as part of our team to deliver outstanding teaching and pastoral support to our students.

Elutec Academy is housed in an impressive building in Barking and Dagenham, part of the Business and Science Park which is soon to be joined by an exciting new film studio complex. The school has excellent transport links, with Dagenham East tube station a short walk away.

The Role: 

The purpose of this role is to provide pastoral support to Elutec students to enable them to achieve their potential and to progress on to the appropriate next steps. Act as part of the Designated Safeguard Team. Deliver PE lessons to students making it fun and interactive for students.


Qualifications:

GCSE Maths and English A-C grades essential – Degree desirable TA/SEND qualification desirable


Desirable Experience: 

Previously worked with Young people, Taught PE to students, worked as a Learning Mentor


Responsibilities:

1. To provide: assistance for SEND students during internal and public examinations  through:-

- Assisting in the special arrangements for examinations as normal working practice

- Invigilating

- Reading

- Scribing

- Transcribing


2. To identify: The personal development of students by:-

- Encouraging positive attitudes and good behaviour

- Helping to develop good relationships with staff and peers

- Promoting self-esteem

- Developing personal organisation skills

- Helping with pastoral issues that may arise, in line with Elutec policy


3. To develop: A supportive relationship with the students concerned by:

-  Being a good listener but know the appropriate way to deal with issues confidential in nature

- Spend time to foster and build relationships with key students

- Treat all students with the courtesy and respect that you expect from them

-  work with students on a 1:1 basis or in group work, to discuss issues pertaining to all pastoral matters 


4. To ensure: supporting teaching and learning by:-

Developing an understanding of the needs and targets of the supported students by:-

- Being aware of relevant records in the Academy

- Maintaining awareness of provision map targets, encouraging &rewarding achievement

- Monitoring difficulties and discussing them in meetings

- Making suggestions as to how targets can progress or be reinforced
