Learning Resources Assistant

We have an exciting, opportunity for the role of Learning Resources Assistant to provide our students with support in using resources, computers and accessing online content whilst working in our full-resourced Open Learning Centre. You will also work and undertake library and customer service duties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, supportive and positive team player with experience in working and communicating with young people. The post holder will work in our fully resourced Learning Resource Centre to provide support for students wanting to access the range of resources available both in the centre and online. The postholder will also act as a cover supervisor and will deliver 1:1 and small group academic support to students outside of their taught lessons.

The role is fast-paced, and varied, therefore you must be able to multitask and complete administrational tasks on a daily basis. In addition, you will have exceptional organisational, communication skills and IT skills. You will also have the confidence and ability to engage with our learners, supporting them throughout their time at the college.

If successful, you would play a vital role in the College, which was graded as ‘outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted in 2017. We excel in providing a broad, inclusive and high-quality education to all of our learners, which has resulted in some of the highest levels of progression to Higher Education in the sector. In 2022, students at Joseph Chamberlain College achieved outstanding exam results, placing us in the top 25% of all schools and colleges nationally for the ninth consecutive year.  

We were featured in the 2019 Parliamentary Review for best practice in further education for the second time and were awarded the Teachers’ Development Trust (TDT) for our comprehensive package of innovative and high impact professional development.

Hours of work will be 36.5 hours per week, term-time only. Fixed term contract until 30th June 2024.

The salary for this post is on the Colleges' Support staff pay scale, point 7, which currently is £21,394 FTE depending on experience. This will be adjusted for term-time only.
