Job overview

We are looking to recruit an empathetic, resourceful and flexible Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 7 student joining us in September. The successful candidate will become the key adult for this student, supporting transition from primary to secondary school. 

This role will be key in helping the student to develop self confidence and resilience and to manage the challenges of moving to secondary school. You will help the student to develop a positive mindset and a greater capacity for learning. You will help the student to build friendships and to become integrated into our school community.

The role will include:

  1. Delivering numeracy and literacy sessions on a 1:1 basis ( under guidance from other staff at the school).
  2. Attending some mainstream lessons such as P.E. / technology
  3. Undertaking 1:1 engagement and confidence building work such as gardening, cooking, crafts.
  4. Pastoral mentoring, support with mental health and managing emotions.

There will be an opportunity to work with other individuals / small groups when the student is working with other members of the team. This element of the role will be agreed after appointment to reflect the successful applicant's experience / skills.
