We are seeking a dedicated, attentive Learning Support Assistant to support our fantastic children at Harris Junior Academy Carshalton.

Working 1:1 to support one of our children, your role will include:

  • Attending to the pupil’s personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical hygiene and welfare matters; as part of making reasonable adjustments for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities it will  be necessary for LSAs to support pupil’s intimate care needs in line with the academy Intimate Care Policy and to maintain the pupils health, safety and personal dignity
  • Working with the class teacher and Inclusion Manager to support the implementation of child centred planning and targets for the pupil
  • Liaising with appropriate external SEND or health professionals to ensure that advice on provision for the  SEND pupil is effectively implemented
  • Supervising and supporting the pupil, ensuring their safety and access to learning

What we are looking for:

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least two years' experience of working in a school or educational establishment, including working with SEND pupils in a specialist or mainstream setting
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond calmly to behaviours SEND pupils may display as a result of their needs
  • Show an in-depth understanding of areas of learning, including the principles of student development and learning processes
  • Have well developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students and external agencies
  • Be prepared to support intimate personal care for those who require this support

Harris Junior Academy Carshalton opened in September 2013. We are a three-form entry school situated in Carshalton, which is part of the London Borough of Sutton. Our children, aged between 7 and 11 years of age, bring a wonderful amount of energy and enthusiasm to our school.

We have more than 300 lively young minds at our Academy. Our dedicated teachers and support staff build on the children’s learning from the infant school to support each to be the best they can be.
