Herries Preparatory is seeking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to work with an individual Key Stage One pupil within the classroom. This is an exciting position, contributing directly to the welfare and learning of individual pupils, as well as being involved in the wider life of our busy school. The role will entail providing a secure learning environment that allows the pupil to receive educational, social and emotional development, supporting the child in overcoming barriers to learning and assisting the subject teachers in delivering academic material in and out of the classroom. The applicant will combine an interest in education with some experience of working with children.

Herries Preparatory School is an independent mixed day school for students aged 2 -11. The school is located in Berkshire, in the village of Cookham Dean near Maidenhead. Around 100 pupils currently attend Herries School. Our classes are small, allowing teachers to offer each child a high level of individual attention. The pastoral care is often praised – pupils feel safe within the school environment.

Founded in 1937, Herries Preparatory School is based within an Edwardian house, which once belonged to the "Wind in the Willows" author Kenneth Grahame.

The broad curriculum allows children to develop as individuals, helping them to identify their strengths and achieve high standards both academically and in extra-curricular activities. The teaching team support children to develop confidence and self-esteem.

Sporting activities are an important addition to the curriculum, with international-standard facilities on the school's doorstep. Herries Preparatory School also has a thriving drama and music department.
