Description St Paul's Primary School, Rutherford is currently seeking a Temporary Part-Time (0.5FTE) Learning Support Teacher to join the team for 2022.



St Paul’s is a ‘two-stream’ Catholic Parish school of around 387 students, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school, which was founded in 1967 by the Sisters of Mercy, has established a strong tradition of academic, sporting and cultural excellence
Position Requirements Teachers in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives.



The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for:


•Assisting with the initial identification of students with special educational needs;


•Working collaboratively with the principal, learning support coordinator, class teachers, parents and students to develop appropriate assessment strategies, identify resources and implement effective strategies to create learning and social opportunities for students with special education needs;


•Liaising with the relevant schools particularly in relation to transition periods;


•Collaboratively designing, implementing, modifying and evaluating individual Personalised Plans (PPs) with class teachers and other relevant people;


•Contributing to the preparation of documentation required under legislation in line with privacy and confidentiality obligations, for example, student files;


•Assisting in the preparation of funding submissions;


•Contributing to the provision of staff professional development and parent education programs.

Essential Criteria •Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school.

•Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or qualifications in Special Education

•Ability to apply appropriate knowledge in order to plan and prepare contemporary and compliant teaching and learning programs in your nominated areas which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; and encourage them to work towards attainment of their potential.

•Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes.

•Desire and willingness to be involved in the development and implementation of a Design Thinking program, that fosters essential global competencies, reflecting the College’s commitment to the New Pedagogies for Deep Learning Framework.

•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.

•Desire to contribute to the establishment of a staff wide culture of professional learning, reading and reflective practice.

•Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment.

•Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

•Current NESA Accreditation;

•Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number;

•Completion of Anaphylaxis training.

St Paul’s Primary School is a two stream K-6, Catholic school located in the town of Rutherford, within the Hunter Valley area of New South Wales. The school currently encompasses 17 classes with a total student enrolment of 450. The school commenced operation in 1957. The school comprised of two sites up until 1981 when the current site was the recipient of significant development to accommodate the entire K-6 population.

St Paul’s School Primary is a large well-resourced K-6 primary school that operates on a site which has undergone significant change, additions and refurbishments since it’s opening in 1957. Today much of the school site is reflective of a modern primary school offering a wide range of quality, comfortable, welcoming learning environments for its 450 students.

Curriculum

The overall curriculum at St Pauls’ School has a strong Religious component that is taught alongside the six key learning areas drawn from the NSW Board of Studies Syllabuses. The curriculum is delivered within a nurturing and caring environment whereby the school’s team of dedicated and experienced teachers provide a positive and enriching program, all the while appreciating the individual needs and interests of the each student.
