Highbury College is seeking a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician to join our teaching team to deliver the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (City & Guilds). You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

The post entails delivering three hours per week of class orientated teaching, learning and assessment. The Level 3 Diploma provides the underpinning knowledge for students who are Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. Lessons are delivered at the Highbury College site in Cosham, Portsmouth. The Pharmaceutical Services units you would cover include managing minor illnesses, health promotion, dressings & appliances, specialist community care and extemporaneous dispensing. The course is well established and you would be supported with prepared schemes of work, notes, workshop plans and assessment schemes. The teaching would be informed by your own Pharmacy Practice whether in Primary or Secondary Care. Students attend by day release from their Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy positions.

You do not need to possess a formal teaching qualification to apply however you would be expected to undertake “Teaching, Learning & Assessment” continuing professional development. You need to be able to commit to weekly timetabled sessions for 37 weeks per year which follow the Hampshire term times. There may be scope for you to job-share by dividing up the units to be covered. You need excellent communication and presenting skills. You will use IT resources in class and you must be a good time manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Pharmacy professional who wants to develop their skills in education. You will be well supported and find the students extremely responsive.
