Job overview

Aldro is an outstanding boys’ day and boarding preparatory school near Godalming in Surrey. There are about 200 pupils aged 7-13 in the school; approximately 65 of them board, many boys trying boarding throughout the school whether they head off to boarding or day schools after Aldro. Almost all of the boys stay to sit Common Entrance at 13+, but the school also has an outstanding record of academic excellence with many scholarship awards won at 13+ (many of them academic): 30 awards have been won over the past two years to schools such as Charterhouse, Cranleigh, Eton, Harrow, King Edward’s Witley, Lancing, RGS Guildford, Sherborne, St. John’s, Tonbridge, Wellington, Winchester and Worth.

The school offers excellent career progression, mentoring and opportunity to develop your interests and immerse yourself into the wider curriculum and become part of the Aldro family.

Aldro is also committed to breadth of education and excellent results are achieved in sport, music, drama and chess. The school runs an extensive activity programme ranging from cookery to pistol shooting, dodgeball to origami. Aldro’s Christian foundation is a central part of the school’s ethos, underpinning the values of the school; an attractive Chapel is amongst the excellent facilities available which include a very recent multi-purpose sports hall and a fully equipped theatre. Further details about the school can be found on our website: www.aldro.org

Aldro operates its own salary scale. Placement on the scale will be subject to the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Appropriate certification and identification should be brought to the interview. Training will be provided to ensure health & safety regulations are met.

Nestled in the quintessentially English and very beautiful village of Shackleford, Aldro lies just 30 miles southwest of London and is in easy reach of both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.  With our full, weekly and family-friendly boarding, Aldro welcomes children from all around the world, as well as those looking for an idyllic country education away from the capital and many who join us daily from the towns and villages surrounding our stunning rural location in the home county of Surrey.

At Aldro, we are proud of our long history and proven success in preparing young people to attend leading independent senior schools, yet despite our heritage and traditions, our aim is to offer a modern, progressive and innovative curriculum that will prepare both girls and boys for their personal and professional lives beyond school.
