Job overview

Academies Enterprise Trust is the largest multi-academy trust (MAT) in the country with a national network of 63 primary, special and secondary academies across England. Under new leadership, with an entirely new executive team and new Trust Board members, AET is now a radically different organisation.  School improvement, governance and finance have been overhauled as part of a trust-wide programme to reform and renew AET and, as such, this is an exciting time to join the organisation.

We are committed to making sure that AET provides a professional, high quality and consistent finance service to our academies to support AET’s vision to become not just the biggest, but the best national MAT.  Children are at the heart of everything we do, and it is our mission to provide first rate education that enables them to thrive in the whole of their lives. This must be supported by efficient, rigorous financial control.   To help achieve this we are building a new central finance team, which means we are recruiting to a number of roles.

Working alongside the newly appointed Deputy Director of Finance you will be an experienced management accountant, who will take the lead in completing the annual budgeting and reforecasting exercises. You will oversee all month-end activities including preparation of the management accounts and associated reporting.

This is an important role at a time of significant change for the Trust and there is plenty of scope for the successful candidate to play a pivotal role in shaping the future finance function.

As a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent) or part-qualified accountant with significant experience, you will implement improvements to systems and processes to ensure that these are fit for the future. You will also work closely with individuals and teams across the organisation to improve finance knowledge and ensure proactive financial management.

AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy and succeed in an inspiring educational environment, with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them. You will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme and childcare vouchers.

This position is required to commence as soon as possible.

Closing date: Wednesday 27 June 2018
