The Prince of Wales Island International Primary School, opening in September 2019, on Penang Island, Malaysia offers teachers an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop an outstanding school from its inception. Proudly offering a context relevant version of the English National Curriculum, the school will meet the needs of the local and international community in Penang, providing high-quality education for children aged 3 to 11 years old. 

The Prince of Wales Island International Primary School (POWIIS Primary) will provide an excellent, holistic education for its students, and ensure its teachers work in a supportive environment which values professional competency, collaboration and personal development. Applications are invited from passionate, committed Mandarin language teachers who are ready to develop and implement an outstanding Mandarin programme across the Primary School. They should be highly resourceful, forward-thinking professionals with excellent communication skills in English as well as Mandarin. Candidates must be willing to contribute to our extra-curricular activities programme and will be part of a team of a three teacher Mandarin Department in the first year. All children in the school will learn Mandarin and the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to develop a Mandarin Department from its inception. 

At least three years’ experience of Mandarin language teaching is required, regardless of nationality. All applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in education, or a first bachelor’s degree plus a post-graduate qualification in education (i.e. PGCE, Diploma of Teaching).

Teachers receive a fully competitive overseas benefits package, including salary, flight allowance, accommodation allowance, inbound and outbound freight allowance, health coverage and 80% of tuition fees for up to two children at the school.
