We are part of the wider New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT), New Bridge School is a special needs school for pupils and students between the ages of 11 and 19 across four sites within Oldham.
New Bridge Learning Centre is an Outstanding rated provision which caters for students with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The Learning Centre also caters for students with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and specific conditions including autism spectrum condition. Making a difference to the lives of these young people could be the most important job you will ever have. All students have an EHC plan. To cater to the needs of the range of students the Learning Centre has developed a range of different and appropriate provisions.
We are a constantly growing provision therefore our Trustees are recruiting a teacher to join our dynamic, growing and committed staff team in the following area:
Community Living Pathway – Key Stage 5
New Bridge Learning Centre’s Community Living is a learning environment for students with a diagnosis of SLD, MLD, CLDD and associated complex needs. Students enjoy a curriculum of all subjects and have full access to all the Learning Centre’s facilities.
The class teachers in these settings focus on EHCP outcomes and deliver the majority of subjects to students. Core subjects such as Maths and English are delivered by specialist teachers and can access a number of accreditations such as Entry Level English and Maths.
This post will deliver a Maths curriculum to the majority of the Community Living Pathway
students in a way that is adapted and appropriate for the individual needs of the students.
The successful candidate will:
- Be an excellent practitioner with the commitment and motivation to inspire pupils’ learning
and development
- Have experience of teaching young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary or secondary sector or have a specific interest in developing their teaching skills in a special school setting.
- Have high expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential
- Have experience of enhancement of pupil progress gains and raising attainment and achievement levels of all students
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons which meet individual needs
- Have experience of current assessment practice and the use of data and pupil progress tracking to ensure that all groups of learners achieve
- Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex needs
- Be able to build positive relationships with the class group, ensuring consistency and continuity on a daily basis.
- Have the ability to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
- Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development
- Be a team player who can work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team
The post will be based initially at New Bridge Learning Centre, St Martins Road, Fitton Hill, however, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group.
