About The Hertfordshire & Essex High School and Science College

Founded in 1909, The Hertfordshire & Essex High School is an outstanding non-selective secondary school for girls from Years 7-11 with a mixed Sixth Form in Years 12 and 13. There are currently over 1200 students. Our aim is to provide an all-round education; our staff work with great skill and dedication to provide enjoyable and challenging experiences that stretch our students’ learning. Our results consistently prove that we are able to secure the best academic outcomes. However, we also place as much emphasis on the broader measures of success: our students’ personal development, their confidence and their ability to find their place in the school and wider community. Herts & Essex’s six core values of compassion, creativity, independence, initiative, resilience and respect lie behind every aspect of school life. There is an extensive programme of extra curricular events, drama and musical performances and a diverse range of trips and visits at all stages. At Herts & Essex we are committed to respecting each member of the school community.
