Job overview

We are looking for someone who is forward thinking, willing to help shape the maths department to become one that is recognised for its excellence and ability in ensuring the very best outcomes are achieved for each student we teach.  We offer a friendly and supportive environment to work in, where ideas are welcomed and shared, with the sole focus on improving the experience of our students and ensuring they achieve their very best.  If successful, you will be required to teach students from Key Stage 3 and 4, across the ability range.

About Friern Barnet School Specialist Arts College

Friern Barnet is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form in North London. It is a community state school which will provide 726 places to secondary pupils aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The became a Specialist Arts College in Performing Arts in September 2004. Despite having no official sixth form, the school works in partnership with the nearby Woodhouse College, which offers opportunities for students and acts as their sixth form.

The school motto is “Enjoy and Excel”. It is academically ambitious, aiming to ensure that its students have personally and socially fulfilling lives.

Friern Barnet believes that a strong grounding in the arts, notably art, music, dance, theatre and culture, can enhance students' learning, making sure that each child is challenged and rewarded in equal measure. The school is about more than just about academic achievement: students are taught to become responsible citizens as much as they are encouraged to be independent learners.
