We are seeking to recruit a Mental Health & Wellbeing Lead who will work alongside our Leadership team to implement and improve the school’s pastoral, social, emotional or mental health support provision. Guiseley School is passionate about ensuring the wellbeing of our pupils, whilst promoting positive attendance and behaviour. The successful candidate will work alongside our current Attendance and Wellbeing Officer, Pastoral team, SEN team and safeguarding team members to assess the needs of our students, offer appropriate support and commission external support as appropriate.

We are a values-driven organisation and core values of Care, Aspiration, Growth and Success sit behind everything we do. The key elements of the role include delivery and evaluations of pastoral interventions to support positive mental health and wellbeing, and securing improved wellbeing outcomes for targeted cohorts through working with families to bridge the gap between home and school.

Guiseley School is full of exceptional young people. We have an active, visible leadership team, a committed and expert pastoral team and robust, effective safeguarding systems that works to promote positive outcomes for our students. We have just moved into our brand new, state of the art buildings and are excited to have opened our new campus in March 2023. There has never been a better time to join Guiseley School.

Applications are invited from ambitious and experienced practitioners, with the ability to engage, enthuse and motivate our children and families to achieve their potential. The successful candidate is likely to have a background in either teaching and pastoral care, social work, or counselling. You will be a strong communicator, have a flexible approach to work and have a good knowledge of school and citywide support systems. You will be committed to your ongoing professional development and willing to contribute to the Guiseley School development programme for all staff.

The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2023.

Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is now a suburb of northwest Leeds and close to the stunning Dales. The school is part of a Co-operative Trust established in 2014. The school works jointly with several local schools to promote the welfare and success of the children of Aireborough. As part of the local community, Guiseley School has a firm reputation for high standards in both behaviour and academic endeavour. The Governing Board is keen to continue this traditional understanding of the school and to develop its reputation for excellence. The school is proud to have achieved the prestigious Platinum Artsmark Award for the second time in 2022. Guiseley is one of only two schools in the whole of Yorkshire to achieve this highest award which recognises schools that champion the arts and strive for excellence.
