Are you a dynamic, creative and forward thinking teacher? Varndean School requires a talented, enthusiastic and outstanding teacher of MFL, with a specialism in German (ideally with French or Spanish to GCSE level) to start in September 2018. This is a permanent, full-time position.
The vibrant MFL department is at the heart of the school’s curriculum, with rising numbers of students taking a language through to GCSE. We are looking for someone with excellent subject knowledge who will inspire and enthuse our students, by delivering an outstanding and enriched curriculum. In this role you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons and will be given opportunities to develop within the department and to assist the Head of Department as they set about fulfilling the school’s ambitious academic agenda.
Varndean School is a Good school (Ofsted 2013) and has specialist status in Technology, Music and Applied Learning. We offer all staff excellent training opportunities throughout their career with us, as strategic partners of the Pavilion and Downs teaching School Alliance, as well as other local and national networks and through the expertise of our own talented teaching staff.

Varndean School has a proud history. It has undergone many changes to bring it to where it is now; starting life in the centre of Brighton in 1884 and moving to its current site in 1926. Since then the school has evolved into a vibrant and diverse co-education comprehensive school with a population of over 1400 students and nearly 200 staff which represents the local community it serves.
