Job overview

We are delighted to be making an appointment for the position of Midday Supervisor for our high achieving 11-18 academy in North Yorkshire - Outwood Academy Easingwold.

Our academies offer a high quality of education for our students and excellent career progression and training for staff. Our driving ambition is ‘Students First: Raising Standards and Transforming Lives’.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to join our Family of Schools and work with us as part of the team who rapidly transforms the school to one that offers outstanding provision and is school of choice in its community.

Starting as soon as possible, we are looking to appoint a dynamic, flexible and hard-working individual to our team. The role of the Midday Supervisor is vital in ensuring that the well-being and health and safety of our students is maintained at lunchtime. Full training will be provided but you will need to use your own initiative.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools and you will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and successful organisation. The Trust guarantees every member of staff CPD and development opportunities and various routes for career progression.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, we are still busily planning ahead for the forthcoming academic year and are excited about welcoming new recruits to come and join us. In place of academy-based interviews, we have set up systems to ensure that alternative options are still available via skype/video conferencing wherever possible. Every effort will be made to try and accommodate any specific requirements so that no-one is at a disadvantage.

Understandably, visits to the school are not possible at present, however we are really keen to ensure that you have as much information to proceed with your application as possible, so if you would like further information about either the academy or the position please email Giselle Gilchrist at G.Gilchrist@easingwold.outwood.com and we will be happy to assist.

For more information and to apply online, please go to: www.outwood.com > careers.

Alternatively, you can contact Giselle Gilchrist, HR Assistant, directly by email: g.gilchrist@easingwold.outwood.com

Closing date: Midday on 8 June 2020.

Interview date: 11 June 2020.

We reserve the right to close advertisements early. Advertisements will therefore close at 12 noon, either on the advertised closing date, or the day the decision has been taken to close the advertisement early.

We are an “Outstanding” 11-18 academy, based in the market town of Easingwold in North Yorkshire, near York and were rated Outstanding by Ofsted in its report published in September 2022.

Part of the Outwood Family since 2018, we are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on ensuring everyone has the right to learn, with a curriculum designed to stretch and enrich our students’ experience. We champion routes into higher education providing a vibrant, supportive and largely academic sixth form.

Our Ofsted report published on 21st September 2022 said “Outwood Academy Easingwold is an aspirational and nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to excel. Staff have the highest expectations of what pupils can achieve and ensure that they meet them.” They also stated "This is a caring community where pupils and staff value and appreciate each other."  About our curriculum they wrote "The school’s ‘intrinsic’, ‘academic’, ‘enhancement’ and ‘elective’ curriculums combine to ensure that pupils receive an exceptional education."

Playing an active role in our local community is important to us and we regularly work with community members of a range of projects. Our sports hall and 3G sports pitch is also available for hire, giving the local community access to state of the art sporting facilities.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

Our success led to us appearing in the Sunday Times School Guide 2020, where we ranked as the 14th best school in the North and the 235th best school overall in the country.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
