As a result of the continued expansion and growth of the school, we are now seeking to add an outstanding music teaching assistant to our creative arts team.
Music Internship (One year )
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, and passionate musicians. Woodwind specialists are highly desirable, but this is not essential. Please state clearly in your application your first study instrument and also your level of keyboard and singing expertise. Having experience in developing formal or informal music programmes with children or young people would be advantageous. The candidate must also possess the skills required to work collaboratively and effectively in an outstanding international learning environment. Experience of working with instrumental groups, and working with external musicians in order to enhance the curriculum for learners would also be beneficial.
At BSY we believe that music is a universal language that can engage and inspire pupils, and therefore has a central place in our curriculum. Throughout the year, an exciting schedule of concerts and musical workshops provide pupils with the opportunities to showcase their work and talent, both in the school and in the wider community. BSY offers an extensive music programme that allows students the opportunity to perform in ensembles and sing in choirs. For those interested in developing their musical education further, we offer individual music lessons for a range of instruments.
Music sits within the Creative Arts Faculty who work exceptionally well together as a small, talented and dedicated team. The team are responsible for producing a series of high quality events – in January an exceptional production of Little Shop of Horrors for example. Mostly recently, the team worked together to host a whole school Art Exhibition displaying not only artwork, but also student ensembles and student compositions.
The Music Department is held in high regard within the school and within the city, and is well supported and resourced.
