Bedales SchoolPetersfield, Hampshire

Date posted:
Start date: September 2019
Contract type: Part Time
Salary: £11,768 - £12,654
Contract term: Permanent

Bedales School is renowned for its creative ethos and music is at the very heart of the school. We are looking for an exceptional individual to take on the pivotal role of Music School Administrator to manage the day-to-day running of the music office. Excellent administration skills are required along with the ability to work with staff, students and parents to support our vibrant musical tradition. An interest and knowledge of music is desirable but not essential, as is experience of working in an educational environment.

The role is extremely varied and tasks include assisting the Director of Music in all aspects of running the music school and daily meetings with the Assistant Director of Music to organise day-to-day management of the department. Timetabling of music lessons is a crucial aspect of the role and the Music School Administrator is therefore the initial point of contact for parents and staff regarding all aspects of music lessons. All staff in the music department are asked to encourage students to make the most of their time in the music school and assistance with publishing documents and posters is also required. You will also co-ordinate the timesheets for music teachers and deal with all aspects of administration in the department.

Our school is a unique educational establishment, set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Our aim is to create an environment where questioning, divergent thinking and freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. Central to our success is the sense that each person is a member of our community whose voice is entitled to be heard and treated with respect. Both our staff and students expect of each other the best kind of relationships – co-operative, authentic and trustful.

The role is currently 28 hours per week and there is some flexibility as to when these hours can be worked. There may also be a requirement to assist with some evening performances and time off in lieu is given for these occasions. This position is for term-time only (although there is some provision for working before and after each term) and term dates can be found on our website.

Our benefits include onsite parking, free school lunches during term-time, life assurance, pension and personal accident cover.
