Job overview

Northwood Senior school, located close to Streatham and Streatham Hill train stations, is a small independent senior school for boys and girls from 11 -16 years of age. As a smaller school we can get to know every pupil really well so that we can nurture their strengths and equip them with the necessary skillset to tackle the future with confidence.

As a community with a culture of support, we provide not only excellent academics but a fully rounded learning experience in a smaller, more bespoke setting.

Our music department is seen by all to be a very important part of our school, with performance and musical accompaniment and important part of school life. You will contribute to this by teaching music across our age and ability spectrum, mostly in small groups.

The ability to a variety of instruments, such as piano, guitar, drums or violin would be particularly welcome as is the ability to stimulate the passion and interest in music amongst our pupils. We will welcome the opportunity to hear you perform at interview.

Ideally, you will be a qualified teacher, or hold a degree in music, with prior music teaching experience with a track record of supporting musical recitals and productions.

Our strong professional and developmental environment means that this role can be a springboard into developing your teaching career in the years ahead.

In return we will offer a salary well above the maintained sector, opportunities for CPD, subsidised private healthcare, an excellent group pension scheme, free school lunches and a great sense of camaraderie across the Northwood Schools family.

Full details of the position and an application form are available on our website www.northwoodschools.com

A completed application form along with a covering letter should be submitted by email for the attention of Susan Brooks, Headteacher, to Tash McDonald, PA to the Headteacher, t.mcdonald@northwoodschools.com by Wednesday 6th July 2022.

Interviews will be held on Friday 8th July 2022.

Northwood Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Northwood Senior School is part of the Northwood Schools family:

About Northwood Senior School

About Northwood Schools

Northwood Schools is a family-owned group of London day schools catering for children from ages 4-13 which currently comprises Broomwood Hall Lower School, a co-educational pre-prep for children age 4-8; Broomwood Hall Upper School, a prep school for girls aged 8-13 and Northcote Lodge, a prep school for boys aged 8-13.  Our new senior school will build on these strong foundations.

About the new Senior School

Northwood Senior opened in September 2020 as the fourth member of the Northwood Schools group. As a deliberately smaller school, it aims to offer an excellent secondary education in a more personal setting with an emphasis on equipping pupils with the skills and experiences they need to face their future with confidence. Alongside preparing for a wide range of GCCEs/IGCEs, we place great importance on wellbeing, community, and social responsibility and in building and bolstering confidence within a friendly and supportive community.
